WHAT IS THE NSB THEATRE PROGRAM?

Our Theatre program at Next Step Broadway is an all encompassing musical theatre performance department. The program is open to all ages 4+ that wish to develop their singing, acting, instrumental, musical, and theatrical abilities. Not only will students learn a foundation for theatrical performance, but they gain confidence, performance experience, teamwork, and a love for the theatre!

PERFORMANCES:

The NSB Theatre Department will offer multiple performance opportunities throughout the year. Through cabarets, showcases, recitals and more, the performers will be no stranger to the audience. Not to mention our fall and spring productions!

THEATRE PROGRAM CLASSES:

GROWN UP & ME MUSIC:

(ages 18 months - 3 years)

Do you have a toddler who loves to sing and dance? We now have the perfect class for them to express their love of music - plus you get to share it with them! Come join us every Thursday where you and your toddlers will join our amazing instructors in singing songs, playing instruments, dancing with new friends, and discovering our love of music together.

MUSICAL THEATRE / ACTING COMBO:

(AGES 4-6)

Combination classes are designed to give young performers an opportunity to discover and explore different types of performing in one class! This class is set to compliment the fall and winter productions. During the fall portion of our year, we will focus on Musical Theatre (as the production will be a PLAY with just acting). This is in direct contrast to our spring portion of the year where the class will transition to be Acting as the spring production will be a MUSICAL!

MUSICAL THEATRE:

(ages 4+)

LIGHTS UP! It’s showtime. This class gives performers the skills to take a song from just music to a stage ready number. With focuses on singing, ensemble work, and musicality, Musical Theatre class is the place to expand on the tools every performer needs! This is a singing class with incorporated movement.

ACTING:

(ages 5+)

“To be, or not to be?” That is the question performers in this class will be asking! With this class, you will learn to create living characters, what goes into a scene, and how to work with scene partners through acting and reacting. It is through the acting that an audience can feel connected to a performance.

FALL & SPRING PRODUCTIONS:

(ages 5+)

Lights up! It’s Showtime! This is where our performers will rehearse for the winter/spring full show production! We will be producing a winter and spring musical. Auditions will be held within the class. Keep a close eye out for our show announcements! *Must be enrolled in at least one (1) other NSB class to be eligible for the production!

CHORAL TECHNIQUE:

(ages 8+)

This class focuses on vocal performance and, as is in the name, singing technique! Students work as an ensemble to gain a classical understanding of singing in a group. Skills in this class include singing in harmony, vowel shape, breath control, and more!

NSB offers private instruction in various disciplines including singing, acting, piano, guitar, ukulele, and drums. These lessons are specifically tailored to each student, with one-on-one instruction from the NSB faculty. Students enrolled in weekly lessons will have the opportunity to perform in a winter and spring showcase!
